Coleoptera
This order consists of beetles. They make up around 40% of the insects in the world and are extremely diverse. They will eat many things, including other insects, fruit, fungi, parts of dead plants or animals and wood. They can live in almost any environment, even underwater! Beetles often have two pairs of wings and legs that are usually for walking or running, although may be used for things like tunnelling or jumping. They also have chewing mouthparts used for eating and are often capable of producing a chemical mixture to help defend themselves from predators.
