Orthoptera
This order consists of grasshoppers and crickets. The name ‘Orthoptera' means straight wings. This order has a special ability of making sounds when rubbing together some parts of their body. This is called stridulation. Usually, this ability is used by males to attract females but in some species, females can also produce a sound. All insects of the Orthoptera order have powerful hind legs, antennae and mouthparts that are capable of chewing. They also go through a metamorphisis from wingless nymph to a winged adult.
